I bought a house several years ago (even though I'm single) because I'd been collecting so many nostalgic nick-nacks that I fretted I was running out of room and wanted a place to call home. As I helped and volunteered in and about my community I was in turn blessed. I bought the `62 Shasta Camper... and I continue to scream with delight when I paid $100 for the Rambler Wagon a year later! 10 days after I bought the Shasta trailer I found out our "community" prohibits recreational vehicles... you gotta be kidding as I towed the Shasta to a friends field to lay in wait. Along comes YWK and along with the goofy trailer regulations as well as a few stuckup neighbors, I said to my cat Cally... hey lets sell the house... get out of debt... and get out of town. The big stuff and Geo went first with a big rental truck. Last to leave town is the Rambler and Shasta "combo of fun and wonderment". Two miles out of Atlanta the Shasta rattled and plum nearly rolled over as we picked up speed on the interstate ramp (didn't pack trailer correctly) and then as we sat in rush hour traffic the transmission began to drip, drip, drip! A second Penske Truck was rented. Only the bare essentials remain to be driven to Maryland. Over 700 miles lay between the Rambler and Maryland |
UPDATE 2000 (Car make it to Maryland and is running great at present. Only current need is some green interior door panels and back wheel well plastic covers) First I should have a new brain installed for overpacking a air-cooled transmission vehicle!!! Big Concern: Need a Transmission Rebuild Kit Windshield Needed... will probably order local new/used Need backup Water Pump, Fuel Pump, Alternator, Starter. Low on The List: Needs a ton of interior work. SPECS: 1965 AMC Rambler Classic 660 Wagon DOOR JAM TAG: |
